J's BBQ Ripon, WI Where To Find Us

I just wanted to leave that there...unadorned by other words. Like the brisket, that statement needs no sauce or words around it. I lived in KC for awhile, know a number of entrants in the American Royal, the Premier Barbecue Competition in the US, and Jen and Susan's brisket stands shoulder to shoulder with the best l've tasted.
What sets their brisket apart, for me, is the crispy, crackly sweetness of a caramelized brown sugar bark touched with a bit of cayenne spiciness. It is so damn good, I told Jen I need to amend my own cooks to try to replicate this food porn at home!
As for the chefs, the BBQ Professionals, Jen and Susan, what wonderful people! Admittedly, I only met Jen in person, but l'm certain her kindness and love of BBQ is only complimented by Susan's! I've been coming to Ripon for work for a year, and was waiting for them to reopen the storefront. Now that it's back open, I'm sure to stop every time I am in town.
Last thing - the sides are pretty awesome too. Beans have great bits of brisket, slaw is spicy good, Mac N Cheese is dripping with heart clogging goodness! But, for me, it is all about the Brisket, the Bark, and the BBQ Pitmasters running the show.
Susan and Jen - you really have to take this stuff to a competition!

"The staff is friendly and helpful and the establishment is very clean and welcoming. That being said, let's get to the food! I ordered the brisket (wet) and as soon as I tasted it I went to my BBQ happy place. Let's face it. Wisconsin isn't known for it's good taste in BBQ but J's.... They get it! The bark was perfect! It just exploded with flavor every single bite. The brisket melted in your mouth and was marbled beautifully. Not too fatty, not too lean. I had some sauces on the side (you know, just in case) and never touched a single one. When sauce would be an insult to the meat, THAT is great BBQ! The Mac and Cheese and fried pickles were excellent too. If you appreciate great BBQ check out J's."

"Great food and great customer service! The minute we walked in we were greeted with a smile. The ordering process was easy everything was explained to us. The atmosphere was pleasant and enjoyable. "This was excellent. I hope the people in Ripon take advantage of this restaurant. I was very impressed with the authenticity of the brisket to the brisket I am used to in Texas. The sides were excellent. The sauces were great. The owner and staff were very friendly. It's great to know when I come to Ripon for a visit I can still get some great Texas brisket!"

"I heard good things about this place prior to going and i wasn't disappointed. My wife and i had the sampler platter. We were starving and still took food home. When we ordered, i was excited to eat, after seeing our server effortlessly cut our brisket into slices. The side of mac-n-cheese was great too. Pulled pork was tangy, A+ there. Even the slaw was intriguing, A. I'm not a rib guy, but I'd come back for those, A. Overall, I can't wait to come back!"
